Context-dependent Lexical and Syntactic Disambiguation in Ontology Population

چکیده
We suggest an approach to resolution of context-dependent lexical and syntactic ambiguity in a framework of ontology population from natural language texts. We show that a set of maximally determined ontology instances can be represented as a Scott information system with an entailment relation as a collection of information connections. Moreover, consistent primary lexical instances form FCA-concepts. These representations are used to justify correctness of lexical disambiguation and to define syntactic ambiguity and its resolution. This information system generates a multi-agent system in which agents resolve the ambiguity of both types.

Combining Lexical and Syntactic Features for Supervised Word Sense Disambiguation
The success of supervised learning approaches to word sense disambiguation is largely dependent on the features used to represent the context in which an ambiguous word occurs. Previous work has reached mixed conclusions; some suggest that combinations of syntactic and lexical features will perform most effectively. However, others have shown that simple lexical features perform well on their o...
متن کاملContext-driven Disambiguation in Ontology Elicitation
Ontologies represent rich semantics in a lexical way. Lexical labels are used to identify concepts and relationships, though there is no bijective mapping between them. Phenomenons such as synonyms and homonyms exemplify this, and can result in frustrating misunderstanding and ambiguity. In the elicitation and application of ontologies, the meaning of the ontological knowledge is dependent on t...
متن کاملLexical Disambiguation in Natural Language Questions (NLQs)
Question processing is a fundamental step in a question answering (QA) application, and its quality impacts the performance of QA application. The major challenging issue in processing question is how to extract semantic of natural language questions (NLQs). A human language is ambiguous. Ambiguity may occur at two levels; lexical and syntactic. In this paper, we propose a new approach for reso...
متن کاملTree-gram Parsing: Lexical Dependencies and Structural Relations
This paper explores the kinds of probabilistic relations that are important in syntactic disambiguation. It proposes that two widely used kinds of relations, lexical dependencies and structural relations, have complementary disambiguation capabilities. It presents a new model based on structural relations, the Tree-gram model, and reports experiments showing that structural relations should ben...
متن کاملAcquiring Semantic Relations Using the Web for Constructing Lightweight Ontologies
Common techniques for acquiring semantic relations rely on static domain and linguistic resources, predefined patterns, and the presence of syntactic cues. We propose a hybrid approach which brings together established and novel techniques in lexical simplification, word disambiguation and association inference for acquiring coarse-grained relations between potentially ambiguous and composite t...
